Stories of the Sea - The Adorable Ah Gong

For Mr Lee, the kelong life defines him at his core. As a fisherman on one of the few remaining fish farms in Singapore (a lot of which is built by his own hands!), he spends many days and nights out on the waters. Over the years, teaching his grandson the ropes of being a fisherman has fostered a unique relationship between the two. It is a quiet bond, but one that runs deeper than the waters around them.

OGS: Why I Left Everything Behind To Live At Sea

At 31, Ah Guan left the city life behind to start anew at sea. Drawn by the promise of freedom, he threw himself into fish farming. Now, over two decades later, Ah Guan reflects on the quiet, isolated world he has built, a personal paradise built through hardship, familial bonds, and a little luck.
